SCALE & HIERARCHY

Scale is often used to help communicate hierarchy by drawing attention toward and away from certain elements, thus signifying their importance to the communication.

BALANCE THE ELEMENTS

Smaller objects might ‘weigh’ less than larger objects, and heavily textured elements might ‘weigh’ more than flatly colored elements.

Week 3

PHOTOSHOP 2

Lasso Tool, Pen Tool & Layering.

L3.1

L3.2

Photoshop provides several tool sets in the Toolbox, and you can expand the tool sets to reveal additional tools.

L3.3

The Lasso Tool is great to use with a graphic tablet because it is similar to a pencil.

Week 4
Photoshop 3
Adjustment Layer & Filters

L4.1
Adjustment layers in Photoshop are a super useful set of non-destructive image editing tools that can add color and tone adjustments to an image without permanently changing its pixels.
L4.2
When you add an adjustment layer to an image, a new layer will appear on the image, and a properties panel specific to the type of adjustment you have selected will pop up.  The Properties panel will allow you to modify adjustment layers, which in turn will modify your image.

1. BRIGHTNESS / CONTRAST

Brightness/Contrast adjusts the tonal range of the image.

The Brightness slider adjusts the highlights in the image, and the Contrast slider adjusts the shadows in the image.

2. LEVEL

Level modifies the tonal values in the image by

Adjust the levels of shadows, midtones, and highlights.

It's one of the most used tools in the Adjustment Layers panel and can go a long way in correcting your image with just a little bit of leveling.

3. CURVES

Curves allow you to adjust as many points as you want across the tonal range of the entire image, and are the most powerful and precise tool for editing tones in an image.

4. EXPOSURE

Exposure allows you to adjust the exposure level through three

 Sliders: Exposure, Offset and Gamma.

Exposure will adjust only the highlights of the image, Offset will adjust the midtones, and Gamma will adjust only the dark tones.

5. SELECTIVE COLOR

A Selective Color adjustment layer selectively modifies the number of primary colors without modifying the other primary colors in the image.

Filters

L4.3

Editing photos with filters is an essential part of Adobe's graphics editor.

There are filters to change colors, add blur or create completely new image effects.  Photoshop offers almost limitless filters for this.

FEEDBACK

Week 1 -In the first week, we practiced the pen tool and learned that the next lesson was physical collage and we need to create a e portfolio.

Week 2 -In the second week, we went back with scissors and magazines, did our physical college, and handed in the best three.

Week 3 -In the third week, we started doing digital collage and handed in the three images we thought were the best.

Week 4 -In the fourth week, we will adjust our e portfolio and hand in the final product.

Week 5 -In the fifth week, we took a pictures with our own work and learned how to do double exposure.
